A desire of the community

Maison Aloïs is a regional autonomous community organization that was created thanks to a citizen movement.

For the record, Louise Larocque-Guérin was the caregiver of her husband, Jean, who had Alzheimer’s disease. She quickly realized that respite was lacking in the Laurentians. It would therefore be beneficial if there were an organization to improve the living conditions of caregivers and people being cared for.

Thanks to an impressive number of supporters and volunteers, she set up a respite centre that began its activities in 1998. As a result, on October 28, 2002, the Maison Aloïs Alzheimer des Laurentides was officially created. As a result, the perseverance of the volunteers and a major donation from Mrs. Larocque-Guérin led to the acquisition and renovation of the former Dupuis Chandellerie. Finally, in 2010, Maison Aloïs finally had a living environment.

Even today, thanks to the will of the community, members and partners of Maison Aloïs, they continue to mobilize and get involved to meet a need in the community and ensure a good associative life.

Indeed, as an autonomous community organization, the associative life at Maison Aloïs is a vector of commitment by and for its members. More generally, they can take part in each foundation of the House to better understand it, get more involved and make it grow.

It is together that we share collective intelligence, good practices and a communion of ideas. It is thanks to their contribution that the organization develops activities, adapted services and practices adapted to unique and evolving needs. Each room opens onto a window of possibilities for a future of aging well together.
